Mid-Century Modern 3 Room HDB Home Interior Design at Clementi Avenue 1

The enduring popularity of the Mid-Century Modern style is based on many factors. It gave us clean lines, gentle organic curves, a love for different materials and designers that are idolized even today

The distinguishing features of this style consist of a classic, understated look, and clean lines with minimal fuss.

  • Functionality is important, as form follows function
  • Uncluttered and sleek lines with both organic and geometric forms
  • Minimal ornamentation
  • An exploration of different traditional as well as non-traditional materials
  • The juxtaposition of different, and sometimes contrasting materials

In this living room, there is a huge colour contrast with the incorporation of brown and black wooden elements which help bring the look together while also giving it a traditional and homely feel. Also incorporated into the design is a chrome light fixture that hangs over the dining table, this give the room some character as it is a use of a non-traditional material.

As seen here in the picture, a wooden floor to ceiling partition borders the living room and the corridor leading to the bedrooms. This helps to give the living room its own character and also separates it from the rest of the house for more privacy.

Once you enter the main door of the house, the floor to ceiling wooden partition will greet you. This is an efficient way to incorporate storage space for shoes into the design for while also ensuring that your privacy needs are met appropriately.

As seen in this picture, there have been a lot of wooden elements being incorporated into this look. Black and brown wooden features look good together and can even come off as sleek or classy even though there is a huge colour contrast between them.

The wooden elements give a nice pop of colour to the house against the white walls.

In the bedroom, you can see that the trend of incorporating wooden elements into the design in present. A chest of wooden drawers stands in the bedroom, contrasting well with the white walls and light-coloured flooring. The bedroom lighting is fixed into a drop-down false ceiling which will brighten the room in a non-conventional way.

In the bathroom, a mixture of brown and cream elements can be seen. The wooden cabinet under the sink goes really well against the lighter colours of the room for a well-balanced colour contrast. A feature wall in the shower area also helps to bring the entire look of the room together.
